What is a footbath?
A footbath is a facility found in hot springs, therapeutic resorts, and inns where you immerse your feet in hot spring water or hot water to relax. It is widely loved as one of Japan’s traditional cultures and is said to have health and beauty benefits. In addition, footbaths are available in many places free of charge and are popular not only among travelers but also among local residents.
Footbath at Tokiwa Beppu Store
Tokiwa Beppu” Footbath is a free footbath facility located in the commercial facility “Tokiwa” in Beppu City, about a 10-minute walk from JR Beppu Station toward the sea. A large footbath is located on the basement floor of Tokiwa.
The hot water in the footbath comes from the source of Kannawa Onsen, a famous hot spring in Beppu City, and offers the benefits of sulfur spring water and carbonic acid spring water.
The footbath is open from 10:00 to 20:00, and is open year-round. Free of charge.

Footbath at Umezono Onsen
It is located on the grounds of Umezono Onsen, a tourist attraction in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. Visitors can sit on a chair and relax by dipping their feet in the hot water at the footbath with the water flowing from the source.
The footbath facility also has a rest area that can be used free of charge, and beverage vending machines are available.

Footbath and foot steaming at Kannawa Mushi-yu
Footbath space at Kannawa Mushiyu is available free of charge. The footbath water is made of sulfur spring water and is expected to relieve fatigue.
Foot steaming allows visitors to sweat and expel waste from their bodies through exposure to steam containing hot spring ingredients. Foot steaming at Kannawa Mushiyu is also available free of charge.

Footbath at Hyotan Onsen
Hyotan Onsen is located near Kannawa Onsen. The footbath facility is located on the grounds of Hyotan Onsen, a fee-based hot spring facility, but only the footbath is free of charge.
